New Crop and Deliveries
Starting from week 13, the new crops have been delivered to
Bandar Lampung but all came from low land areas. By the end of week 15, about
10.0% of the new crop of Southern Sumatra Robusta (equal to about 11,100 Mton)
has been harvested and about 7,696 Mton have been delivered where about 5,596
Mton were delivered to Lampung and the rest delivered to other areas and/or
delivered to local roasters.
Compare to 2014 crop, starting of deliveries to
Lampung for this crop year (2015) is delayed for about 4 week because of the
rains delayed the maturity of the cherries, and the price are not motivated the
farmers to harvest and deliver in a hurry.
If we compare total deliveries to Bandar Lampung of
this new crop for the same duration (3 weeks from the starting of deliveries),
we knew that total delivery of this new crop is higher than last crop year. It
is to confirm that crop production for this year will be higher than last year,
and the farmers delivered their first crop immediately due to the harvesting
delayed for about one month.
Supply And Demand
Total export of Southern Sumatra Robusta from Panjang Port
in Mar-2015 (17,561 Mton) is about 9.6% lower than total export
during Feb-15 (19,430 Mton) but this is much higher (about 41.3%) than a year
ago in Mar-14 (12,430 Mton).
For the year-on-year (YoY) of Mar-15 (238,675 Mton), it is about 33.2% lower than YoY of Mar-14 which was about 357,556 Mton.
Weather
Rainfall Intensity up to second week of April 2015 at coffee
plantation areas (lowland and highland of Southern Sumatra), still higher than
the previous month so the farmers delay to harvest the crops because the
cherries still not mature enough. According to the Meteorology,
Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), rainy season is forecasted until the
end of April 2015. The average wind speed during second week of Apr-15 at the
coffee area is still normal (between 4-10 knots)
We still confirmed that this coming crop production
will be increase around 18% compare to previous year. All of lowland
areas are already in harvesting process, while the harvesting on a few areas of high land will start by mid of May-15 but on
most of high land areas, the harvesting will start by the beginning of Jun-15.
